Tentang Kami

The history of Pengajian-BC goes back to the 80’s. It started as informal regular gatherings of Indonesian muslim community in Vancouver region, which at the time was made up mainly of students, some community members as well as families of the Indonesian Consulate General in Vancouver (KJRI Vancouver).

This was born out of the needs to bond (being away from the home country) as well as to maintain the Islamic values while living in a non-muslim country. This forum allows the community to interact socially and conducted Islamic study circles, observed important islamic events such as Ramadan and Eids.

The KJRI Vancouver has played an important role in shaping the association over the years. Pengajian-BC has been considered as representing the Indonesian muslims community in its jurisprudence. It has been relied upon as a partner to conduct various Islamic activities such as Ramadan, Ied-ul-Fitr, and Ied-ul-Adha.

Today Pengajian-BC continues to provide the platform for the Indonesian muslims in British Columbia to maintain the family bonding and foster the Islamic values and identity through various religious and social activities.
